Three Established Authors Explore the

Darker Side of Summer

AUSTIN, TEXAS June 10, 2025:

Fredonia Ink Publishing announces the release of FOR EVERY EVIL UNDER THE SUN: STORIES with tales from Alexandra Burt, VP Chandler, and Laura Oles.

This collection is the first release for Fredonia Ink Publishing with additional titles scheduled for 2026. The authors will discuss the craft of short stories, women writing crime fiction and this collection at Vintage Bookstore and Wine Bar (1101 E. 11th St, Austin Texas) on July 18th at 7pm.

FOR EVERY EVIL UNDER THE SUN is an eclectic and experimental collection with three distinct authors showcasing three individual storytelling styles. Scott Montgomery, CrimeReads reviewer and co-editor of Austin Noir (Akashic Books), states, “What you are about to read are three talented writers taking the dark torch and running with it.”

Each author focuses on a particular theme. Alexandra Burt, best known for her psychological thrillers, explores themes of female desperation and moral ambiguity. “I create stories that blur with reality where silence conceals generational harm, and survival demands uncomfortable choices, set against richly atmospheric backdrops.” VP Chandler, with a gritty sense of place and a deep undercurrent of reckoning, blends western, crime and horror. She states that her stories “pursue revenge and justice with generational echoes of the past.” Laura Oles, whose stories end the collection, explores complicated family dynamics and the conditions of unconditional love. “I’m continually drawn to the heights and depths we are willing to go to stay connected to family, even when it ruins us.”

"Literary suspense meets feminist noir. Lyrical prose with morally gray characters and haunting revelations. A gripping, emotionally raw collection of nine stories that explore the inner lives of women facing pivotal, desperate moments-whether physical, emotional, or existential. Each story dives into the psyche of individuals when pushed to the edge."

Alexandra Burt was born in the East Hesse Highlands. After years of pursuing literary translations, she decided to tell her own stories. She's the author of the international bestseller, Remember Mia. The Good Daughter, and Shadow Garden, besides numerous published short stories. She has contributed to multiple fiction and non-fiction anthologies. She lives in the Hill Country of Central Texas and keeps an eye on the world from her house on a ridge overlooking a lake.

V.P. Chandler hails from a family with deep roots in law enforcement, immersed in a world of crime and justice. She creates genre-defying stories that blend horror, sci-fi, and western elements. Her work has appeared in several anthologies, including her latest contribution to The Best Mystery Stories of the Year: 2025.

Laura Oles is the award-winning author of the Jamie Rush mystery series. Her debut novel, Daughters of Bad Men, was an Agatha nominee, a Claymore Award finalist, and a Writers' League Of Texas Award finalist. Depths of Deceit, her second novel, was named Best Mystery by Indies Today. Her work has appeared in crime fiction anthologies, consumer magazines and business publications. She lives in the Texas Hill Country with her family.
